National Weather Service kicking off 'Winter Weather Preparedness Week' ST. LOUIS - You are waking up to temperatures in the 60s on Monday morning. However, snow and ice will likely hit the bi-state soon enough.Monday is the first day of winter 'Weather Preparedness Week.' Meteorologists at the National Weather Service are taking this time to encourage people to plan ahead for extreme cold and frozen weather.In a startling report from the Department of Health and Senior Services, 52 people lost their lives in Missouri last year due to prolonged exposure to the cold. The goal of Winter Weather Preparedness Week is to prevent those tragedies. FOX 2's John Pertzborn bowties auctioned off ST. LOUIS - A new record was set for a couple of John Pertzborns' bow ties Saturday night at the 10th annual Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School auction in Old Town Florissant.  The theme was Alice in Wonderland and auctioneer Steve Rupp did a wonderful job raising $2,000 for two Pertzborn bow ties.   The winning bidders were Mark Goldstein and Nathan Bennett.   Former Missouri teacher speaks out on OnlyFans account, made nearly $1 million One bow tie will be on display at Hendel's Restaurant, and the other may appear at Hanke's Tavern, two Florissant institutions.

LOUIS - With winter just around the corner, the Illinois River Watch is looking for volunteers to help study road salt's impact on waterways.They'll train community members to monitor chloride levels in local rivers, ponds, streams, and wetlands. The river watch says identifying areas where salt use impacts water quality is essential for protecting habitats and keeping people and animals safe. They say monitoring trips would only take 15 minutes. Watch: LAPD in pursuit of 35-foot RV in Los Angeles Police officers are currently in pursuit of a large recreational vehicle.The driver of the RV is reportedly being pursued for domestic violence, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.The pursuit began around 4:30 a.m. in West Los Angeles. When LAPD initially went to conduct a traffic stop, the RV kept going and a pursuit was initiated.The RV drove onto the southbound span of the 405 Freeway and was going towards Carson.Two people were originally in the RV, but a woman may have jumped out in the Long Beach, according to KTLA 5's Rich Prickett.This is a developing story. Driver caught on dashcam video striking bicyclist, fleeing scene in Orange County  A driver struck a bicyclist and left the scene of the collision early Monday morning, and the whole incident was caught on dashcam video. The collision occurred around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning at the intersection of South Euclid Street and West Katella Avenue in Anaheim. Dashcam footage shows that the impact of the crash threw the victim off their bike and into the roadway. Dashcam video caught the moment when a bicyclist was struck in Anaheim, CA on Nov. 6, 2023.Instead of stopping to render aid and identify themselves, the driver quickly accelerated and fled the area.  $10K in stolen retail merchandise recovered after 3 arrests made The bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital in unknown condition. A vehicle description for the suspect has not yet been released.
